Spring 2012

  • January 17th, 2012 at the Miller Outdoor Education Center starting at 6pm we will be having a group orientation meeting.  If you've always wondered what we're all about or wanted to participate in our activities come on out and learn about what we've got planned for 2012.  Refreshments will be served.
  • January 21, 2012 at Red Orchard Park at 9am, we'll be cutting and removing bush honeysuckle.  This strenuous activity is a great stress reliever and certainly keeps you warm.  Come out and help us battle this plant from taking over our woods at the park.  Tools can be provided for those that need them.  Refreshments and water will be available. Meet at the barn.
  • February 18th at the Miller Outdoor Education Center starting at 1pm and going till 5pm  Come out and help us "Celebrate Urban Birds"!  There will be all kinds of "bird" activities including a bird id hike, an official bird count that will be reported to Cornell University, and hands-on activities geared toward our feathered friends.
  • March 24that Shelby Trails Park starting at 9am We'll be having a Spring wildflower hike.  Come join us as we venture over a couple miles of "wild" country enjoying the first signs of spring.
  • May 15th at Red Orchard Park starting at 6pm, We'll meet at the barn to go pick invasive garlic mustard from our little woodlot.  This plant was orginally brought over as a cooking herb and has now taken over entire forest floors.  It's easy to pull so bring out the whole family.
  • May 19th at Shelby Trails Park at 9am meet us at the dairy barn and we'll take our second Wild flower hike of the spring.  This time we'll see a whole different bunch of native flowers and may even spend some time looking at wild edibles.  Be ready for a 1-2 mile hike.
